Season 2 closer of “Walking Dead” draws 51 percent more viewers than the Season 1 finale
"The Walking Dead" season two finale on Sunday night earned the highest ratings yet for the hit zombie series, breaking basic cable records in key demos, AMC announced Monday.
Sunday's season capper earned 9 million total viewers and 6 million in the 18-49 demographic. It beat records set by the October season premiere in the 18-49 and 25-54 demos for basic-cable dramas.
The 6 million viewers in the 18-49 demo, the one most important to advertisers, grew by 50 percent over last season's capper.
Overall, season two of the series averaged 6.9 million total viewers — up 32 percent from last season. Season two's average among adults 18-49 likewise improved over the first season, leaping 32 percent to 4.6 million.
