Sorry, Karl Pilkington: The animated comedy series "The Ricky Gervais Show," will be back for a third season, HBO announced.
The third season announcement means the show, which centers largely around Gervais and longtime collaborator Stephen Merchant mocking the eccentric Pilkington, will outlive either of Gervais and Merchant's previous gems, "The Office" and "Extras." The duo kept both to just two seasons. "Extras" also aired on HBO.
The podcast on which the animated show is based recenetly passed the 300-million download mark. It earned the record for most-downloaded podcast in the 2005 edition of the “Guinness Book Of Records.”
Gervais, Merchant and Pilkington also collaborate on the Pilkington-centric SCIENCE series "An Idiot Abroad."
