RNC: Will Michael Moore Direct the Hillary Clinton Documentary?

Courtney Sexton hire means Clinton doc will be a "puff piece," RNC says

The Republican National Committee has responded to CNN Films' hiring of Courtney Sexton — who oversaw Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" at Participant Media – as senior director of its Los Angeles team.

Spoiler alert: they're not happy.

"Between Diane Lane and Al Gore’s filmmaker, any concerns from Hillary Clinton’s campaign that CNN and NBC’s Hillary productions would be bad for Democrats are gone," communications director Sean Spicer told TheWrap. "This puts the 'p' in 'puff piece.' What's next, Michael Moore directing?"

CNN Films drew the wrath of the RNC when it announced it was producing a documentary about Hillary Clinton to air on CNN next year. NBC, meanwhile, plans to air a miniseries starring Diane Lane in 2014 as well.

In response, the RNC voted to pull its debates from both channels.

At Participant, Sexton oversaw documentaries such as Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."

CNN has said that CNN Films and its news division are separate.
