The actor recurred on the ABC political drama's second season and currently stars on Fox's "The Goodwin Games"
Scott Foley is making D.C. his home next season on ABC's "Scandal."
A network representative confirmed to TheWrap that Foley will not only be back for Season 3, but he has been promoted to a series regular.
“I'm thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people," Foley said in a statement.
"[Show creator] Shonda [Rhimes] and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”
During the Season 2 finale, it looked as if Rhimes had closed Jake Ballard's (Foley) story line. An alternative romantic interest for Kerry Washington's Olivia, Jake literally kissed her goodbye during the season finale before going into hiding. He was later captured and imprisoned in a hole by the black ops government agency he turned against in order to protect OIivia.
Foley is also a regular on the Fox comedy, "The Goodwin Games," which is currently airing. He's best known for starring on the cult favorite, "Felicity." He also starrred on "The Unit," and recurred on "True Blood," "Grey's Anatomy," and "Cougar Town," among others.
Deadline first reported Foley's promotion.
