'Vanilla Ice Goes Amish' for New DIY Network Series

The 90s rapper goes unplugged on the reality series set to debut this year

What’s '90s icon Vanilla Ice up to next? Apparently, he’s going unplugged – and we’re not talking music.

DIY Network is producing a new unscripted series, “Vanilla Ice Goes Amish,” is currently in production and set to debut this year.

President of Scripps Networks Interactive’s Home Category, Burton Jablin announced the news as part of its 2013 programming slate at its upfront presentation for advertisers on Tuesday.

“With no frills, no music and no power tools, Vanilla Ice lives and learns from the best craftsmen in the business – the Amish,” the network’s announcement describes.

Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, has starred in DIY’s home improvement series, “The Vanilla Ice Project,” for the past three seasons.

Additionally, the network announced that it’s in production with “The Rev. Run Project,” “The Daryl Hall Project” and “Bronson Pinchot Saves America.”

Combined, sister channel HGTV and DIY Network are set to premiere 27 new series, 50 returning series and will premiere more than 50 specials in 2013.
