The Monday drama has been a strong performer and has given the network a much-needed procedural hit
"Castle" has stormed back from the brink, earning an early season-three renewal from ABC.
A year ago, the show seemed a bit endangered, with just OK ratings. ABC believed in the show's cast and concept, however, and ordered a second round of episodes.
Patience paid off: "Castle" has been a fortress on Monday nights, fitting in well with both "The Bachelor" and "Dancing With the Stars." It's even defeated "CSI: Miami" at 10 p.m. Mondays.
Today's greenlight, therefore, was not a surprise. But it's still good news for ABC, which finally seems to have found its "Bones"/"House": A procedural drama with strong character hooks.
