Former "Six Feet Under" executive producer Alan Poul is resurrecting his relationship with HBO to work with Aaron Sorkin, the pay cable network confirmed.

Poul has signed a new deal with the cable outlet, and his duties will include executive-producing Sorkin's upcoming HBO pilot.

As reported earlier this month, the pilot is based around a cable news show, with "Dumb and Dumber" star Jeff Daniels starring.

Poul will also reportedly direct several episodes of the show if it's picked up as a series. Recently he directed the ABC pilot "Good Christian Bitches," as well as TNT's "Perception" and two episodes of Showtime's "The Big C."

News of Poul's return to HBO was first reported by Deadline.com.
