Country singer Blake Shelton is the fourth and final singer chosen to serve as a coach on NBC's upcoming singing competition "The Voice," the network announced on Monday.

The "Hillbilly Bone" performer will join Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine in mentoring the contestants for the series, which will be hosted by Carson Daly and is slated for an April 26 premiere.

The singer said of his decision to come on board the new series, "I’m not sure ‘The Voice’ knows what they signed on for by bringing me on the show ... I know this for sure; Christina, Cee Lo, Adam and I are going to have a blast, and I am extremely excited to be part of a show that recognizes true vocal talent."

Shelton's recent accolades include a Male Vocalist of the Year win in 2010's Country Music Awards.

The Mark Burnett-produced program is an adaptation of the Dutch talent show "The Voice of Holland."

In a twist on the format presented by "American Idol," and others, "The Voice" will feature a blind audition process, so that contestants' physical appearances won't be an influence.
