bryan cranstonLive from New York, it's new Emmy winner Bryan Cranston.

The "Breaking Bad" star, fresh off his third best leading actor victory Sunday night, told ESPN radio hosts "Mason and Ireland" that he will be hosting "SNL" on Oct. 2. It will be his first appearance on the show.

"I am so thrilled and excited and a little scared. It's going to be fun," Cranston said.

Cranston is no comedy newbie. He starred on the hit Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," and in a memorable "Seinfeld" recurring role as Jerry's dentist, Tim Whatley, who converted to Judaism for the jokes.

An NBC representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
