CBS Developing Western from 'CSI' Creator, Legal Drama from 'Justified' Team

CBS is developing a modern Western from the creator of "CSI" and a legal drama based on a story by crime novelist Joel Goldman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Anthony Zuiker will exective produce "Desperado," about a band of lawmen who use cowboy-style tactics to fight crime in San Antonio. "Hitman 2" writer Kyle Ward will write and executive produce and Matthew Weinberg will co-executive produce. The production companies are CBS TV Studios and Dare to Pass.

Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, producers of the FX drama "Justified," will executive produce "Knife Fight," about a female public defender who becames a prosecutor.

Michael Cuesta of "Dexter" will write, executive produce and direct the show, based on a short story by Goldman. Gerald Cuesta will write and co-executive produce. Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Justified) are executive producing. CBS TV Studios and Timberman/Beverly Prods are the production companies.
