Comedy Central's will tribute Greg Giraldo with a special featuring candid interviews with some of the late comedian's friends and comedy heavyweights, including Jon Stewart, Conan O’Brien, Sarah Silverman, Dennis Leary and more.

The show, "Give It Up for Greg Giraldo," will premiere Friday, March 18 at 11:30 p.m.

Giraldo, a former judge on "Last Comic Standing" and mainstay on Comedy Central's "Roast" series, died last year after an apparent overdose of prescription pills in a New Jersey Hotel room. He was just 44.

Not surprisingly, the special, while featuring some of his stand-up, is pretty solemn.

"Greg Giraldo, quite simply, was the real thing," O'Brien said. "He had the respect of real comedians."

"Nobody was as good as him, yet lived as hard as him, or delivered consistently like him," Attell said.

"The thing about Giraldo was, he wasn't a dick." Stewart said: "He was not the guy in the club you thought would die."

Bob Saget, Dave Attell, Lewis Black, Colin Quinn, Jim Gaffigan and Nick Swardson are also featured on the rough cut I saw.
