Oscar winner Bill Condon has signed on to direct the pilot for Showtime's Laura Linney-led comedy series "The C Word."

Announced over the summer "C Word" revolves around a suburban mom (Linney) who's dealing with a new cancer diagnosos. Darlene Hunt wrote the script and is exec producing with Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon.

"C Word" will shoot its pilot this fall.

It's a reunion for Condon and Linney: Condon directed the actress in "Kinsey," netting her an Oscar nomination.

Condon took home an Oscar for writing "Gods and Monsters" (which he also directed) and was nominated for his script for "Chicago." More recently, he directed "Dreamgirls."

"C Word" comes from Original Films and Sony Pictures TV.
