William Petersen has been MIA for the last two seasons of "CSI," but the original star of CBS's procedural franchise is planning a return to primetime in the new crime drama "Hurt People."
Petersen, who will star in and executive produce "People" with GK-TV producers Graham King, Tim Headington and Craig Cegielski.
Petersen's spokeswoman told TheWrap that the Emmy-nominated actor will play Hollis Brown, a veteran hitman employed by a crime family that killed his wife. Brown has been hired to locate his employer's enemy: Brown's own estranged daughter, who's bent on destroying those responsible for her mother’s death.
"Hurt People" is based on an original script by Peter Macmanus.
Petersen, meanwhile, who's still a "CSI" producer, co-stars in Tony Kaye's new big-screen drama "Detachment" with Adrien Brody.
He'll also star with Steve Carell and Keira Knightley in the June dramedy "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," and will play William Tecumseh Sherman in the 2013 Civil War TV miniseries "To Appomattox."
