The man at the center of the Fantasia Barrino sex tape scandal and subsequent suicide attempt is a real-estate agent, former college football player, father of two children and self-described entrepreneur named Antwaun Cook.
According to his personal website, Cook, a former special-teams star at East Carolina University, is the father of two boys. Cook also has a LinkedIn page that identifies him as a mobile phone salesman, energy drink distributor and club promoter.
"Sales is my Savior," he wrote on LinkedIn.
Cook describes himself as an "independent distributor" of MonaVie, an Acai-based energy drink that he calls "loaded with antioxidants and nutrients." Cook says MonaVie is "the fastest growing company in US" and he invites those who are "interested in Better Health and/or Extra Income" to contact him for a free tasting.
Cook's LinkedIn also says that he's a partner in a Wilmington, N.C., nightlife and events company called Port City Legends Entertainment Inc.
"We have the vision of taking Wilmington to the next level by providing quality entertainment for all to enjoy," Cook wrote.
The corporations database maintained by the North Carolina Secretary of State identifies Cook as the registered agent for Port City Legends Entertainment Inc. and lists the company as being "on notice" for having improperly filed paperwork.
No one answered the phone at the home address listed for Paula and Antwauan Cook. A man who identified himself as Antwaun answered Cook's cell phone number. When TheWrap began asking him questions about the situation with Barrino, the man declined to speak further.
"Antwaun is unavailable at this time," he said.
