Fox has failed to crack the code for a new cop-drama hit, at least so far.

Monday's premiere of "Shield" creator Shawn Ryan's new series, "Chicago Code," yielded a 2.4 rating/6 share among adults 18-49, a 44 percent drop from "House," the veteran hospital drama that led into it.

The soft rating comes despite ample promotion for the new show the day before during Fox's record-breaking Super Bowl XLV broadcast.

The good news for Fox: "Code" improved the 9 p.m. hour time period performance of the previous occupant, "Lie to Me," by 26 percent in adults 18-49. Meanwhile, averaging 9.4 million viewers, the "Code" increased performance in total audience by 50 percent.

The night's ratings winner was CBS, which was led by comedy "Two and a Half Men."

The Charlie Sheen-led sitcom scored a night-leading 4.4/11 among adults 18-49 while averaging 15.3 million viewers.
