G4 Picks Up 4 Marvel Cartoons

G4 had a big weekend. In the past few days the cable network announced four new anime shows featuring Marvel characters and a new season of "American Ninja Warrior."

On Friday at Comic Con, G4 said it would be the exclusive U.S. distributor of new series featuring Iron Man, Wolverine, Blade and the X-Men. produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Japan, the Marvel manga will premiere in 2011.

On Monday, the network announced that season two of the Japanese martial arts obstacle course challenge will begin Dec. 12.Tryouts finalists will be held Venice Beach Aug. 7 and 8.

In the meantime, G4 is looking for 10 finalists to send to Japan to face the four-stage "Mount Midoriyama" obstacle course. The competitor who finishes all stages of the course with the fastest time will win $250,000.

"American Ninja Warrior" is produced in conjunction with a Japanese show known as "Sasuke," or "Ninja Warrior" here in the states. Japanese competitors are tested on the same obstacle course for the foreign version of the show.

The first season of "American Ninja Warrior" was produced by Pilgrim Films & Television, but A. Smith & Co. Productions will take over as executive producers for season two.
