Rappers are nothing if not resourceful. Last week New York City rejected a request that Jay-Z be allowed to perform atop the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater -- as Paul McCartney did last summer during a taping of the "Late Night with David Letterman" show. So so on Monday, Jay-Z and Eminem instead performed on the 13 story-high roof of the theater.
The three-song performance was taped for airing on Friday. Jay-Z was the lead guest on the show, while Eminem presented the "Top 10 Eminem Pieces of Advice for Kids."
The pair are promoting their two-stop tour, "Home and Home," produced by Live Nation at Comerica Park in Detroit on Sept. 2 and at Yankee Stadium in New York on Sept. 13.
The city had rejected the marquee permit fearing crowd control problems.
