Ever on the lookout for hot young talent, "The Daily Show" is in very early discussions to hire an occasional contributer named Larry King.
The recently retired CNN talk-show icon has discussed showing up from time to time like Lewis Black, Larry Wilmore and John Hodgman, a source with knowledge of the discussions has confirmed to TheWrap.
But don't get too excited: So far, King and Comedy Central have only had one discussion about the matter.
King, 77, retired from CNN after 25 years on the cable news outlet last December, and was replaced by Piers Morgan.
Whether or not the show goes through, King will be active in the coming months -- he's scheduled to host the 70th Annual George Foster Peabody Awards ceremony on May 23. He's also launching a one-man traveling stage show, "Larry King: Stand Up," which will chronicle his storied broadcasting career and launches on April 14.
