Lew Wood served as news anchor for "Today" in 1975
Lew Wood, who served as the news anchor for NBC's 'Today' in 1975, died Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
The newsman's daughter Brigitte Wood said he died at a hospice in Riverside County, Calif.

Wood started out Decatur, Ill., radio station WDZ-AM in 1952, before moving on to television at a South Bend, Ind., station.
Working for CBS in the 1960s, Wood was part of the team that reported on the assassination of John F. Kennedy. He also covered the Civil Rights movement.
