T.J. Lavin, longtime host of MTV’s “Real World/Road Rules Challenge,” is in critical condition at a Las Vegas area hospital after a serious crash during an event on Thursday night. (A video of the crash was posted on YouTube.)

The 33-year-old professional BMX rider was attempting a trick during the Dew Tour Championships when he was thrown from his bike and knocked unconscious. According to ESPN.com, Lavin suffered a shattered right wrist and broken ribs, as well.

Lavin -- who has been the host of the MTV reality series since 2005 -- was admitted to the trauma unit at the Las Vegas University Medical Center, where a coma was apparently induced.
