Obama's Visit to 'The View' Drew 6.6M Viewers

President Obama's appearance on ABC's morning talk show "The View" Thursday drew 6.59 million viewers, making it the most-watched telecast in the series' history.

President Obama on The ViewIt also was the show's most-watched in 17 months among women 18-34 (516,000 viewers) and women 18-49 (1.3 million viewers).

Obama's appearance, the first on a daytime talk show by a sitting president, was part of the show's ongoing "Red, White & View" campaign, which brings on political guests to discuss the issues.

A historic interview leads to historic ratings," Brian Frons, president of daytime, Disney/ABC Television Group, said in a statement.

The previous most-watched episode of "The View," the day after the presidential election that sent Obama to the White House, drew 6.17 million viewers on Nov. 5, 2008.
