NBC's "Hannibal" slips
“American Idol” and “Glee” delivered Fox a win in the key demographic Thursday night, as NBC's new "Hannibal" dipped, according to preliminary numbers.
Fox drew first place in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 2.5 rating/7 share and second place in total viewers with 9.1 million. Both its primetime offerings saw slight dips in the demo: “American Idol” at 8 p.m. earned 2.9/9 and 11.9 million total viewers, while “Glee” the following hour posted a 2.2/6 and took 6.4 million total viewers.
Despite airing all repeats, CBS still came in No. 2 in the ratings with a 2.3/7 and slightly beat Fox in total viewers with 9.2 million.
Univision took the third in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 1.5/5 and 3.8 million.
NBC came in fourth in ratings and fifth in total viewers posting a 1.4/4 and 3.2 million. “Community,” which ran its belated Christmas episode at 8, rose a bit with a 1.3/4 and 3.2 million total viewers. It was followed by an “Office” repeat. New episodes of “Parks and Recreation” at 9 and 9:30 drew a 1.7/5, up 13 percent. The first episode drew 3.3 million total viewers and the second drew 3.2 million.
NBC's new thriller, “Hannibal,” premiered soft three weeks ago and held its initial numbers. But Thursday it fell 18 percent in the demo to a 1.4/4. It had 3.5 million viewers.
ABC took the fourth spot in ratings and No. 3 in total viewers, posting a 1.2/3 and 4 million. Its only new airing of the night was “Wife Swap,” which earned a 1.5/5, a slight rise, and 4.7 million total viewers.
