The Sunday premiere of "Big Brother" dropped considerably from last summer's Sunday premiere and last week's Wednesday premiere, but it still took the night's best ratings and helped propel CBS to an overall win for the night.
Meanwhile, ABC's "Celebrity Wife Swap" and "Whodunnit" slid from last week's premieres, according to preliminary numbers.
CBS took first place in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic with a 1.1 rating/3 share and in total viewers with 5.6 million."60 Minutes" at 7 p.m. had a 0.9/3 with 7.1 million total viewers, making it the most-watched program of the night.
"Big Brother" the following hour posted a 1.7/6 — the night's highest demo performance but still down 26 percent from last July's Sunday premiere and off 23 percent from last week's Wednesday night premiere. "Big Brother" grabbed 5.8 million total viewers.
Repeats rounded out the rest of the network's primetime slate.
Fox, which aired repeats throughout the night, was second in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 1.0/3 and 2.3 million.
ABC shared third place in ratings with Univision, taking a 0.9/3, and was fourth in total viewers with 3.5 million, compared to Univision's 2.2 million. After a repeat of "America's Funniest Home Videos," "Celebrity Wife Swap" at 8 posted a 1.0/3, off 23 percent from last week's premiere, and 3.2 million total viewers. "Whodunnit" the following hour" also posted a 1.0/3 for a 23 percent drop from last week's premiere, with 3.2 million total viewers. A "Castle" repeat finished the night.
NBC, which aired repeats throughout the night, was fifth in ratings and second in total viewers with a 0.8/2 and 3.6 million.
