NBC finishes behind Fox, Univision in third
Fox won the night with two hours of "MasterChef," even as NBC claimed the top show of the night with "America's Got Talent," according to preliminary numbers. NBC's "Camp," meanwhile, debuted to so-so summer numbers.
Fox was first in ratings with a 2.1 rating/7 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 5.3 million. Two hours of "MasterChef," beginning at 8 p.m., earned Fox a 2.1/7 and 2.2/7, respectively. The episode at 8 earned 5.2 million viewers, while the following episode at 9 had 5.3 million.
NBC was second in ratings with a 1.8/6 and first in total viewers with 7.3 million. At 8, it aired a repeat of "America's Got Talent." At 9, a new episode of "AGT" earned a 2.7/8, making it the highest-rated show of the night. With 10.5 million viewers, it was also the most watched show of the evening. It was followed by the premiere of "Camp," which got a 1.5/5 and 5.2 million viewers. That's a soft rating, but summer tends to have fewer viewers.
Univision was third in ratings with a 1.6/5 and fourth in total viewers with 3.8 million viewers.
CBS was in fourth in ratings with a 1.4/4 and third in total viewers with 5 million. It aired a new episode of "Big Brother" at 8 p.m., earning a 2.0/7, up 18 percent from last Wednesday. The episode had 5.9 million total viewers. At 9, CBS aired the "American Baking Competition" finale, which earned a 1.0/3 and 4.3 million viewers. The network aired a rerun at 10.
ABC was in fifth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 2.8 million. After a repeat at 8, a new "Family Tools" aired at 8:30, which earned a 0.6/2 and 2.6 million viewers. After repeats at 9 and 9:30, "Nightline: The Lookout" earned a 0.7/2 and 2.8 million viewers.
