Some quick ratings highlights from Wednesday:

--Fox's "Glee" ended its fall season by matching its best-ever ratings in adults 18-49 (3.6/9). It had its best-ever number with teens.

--ABC's "Modern Family" (3.8/10) remains strong, tying CBS' "Criminal Minds" to rank as the top show of the night in the demo. The Christmas episode gave the show its best ratings in 10 weeks.

At 8:30, "The Middle" (2.5/7) benefited from a stronger lead-in ("Shrek the Halls") and upticked to its best numbers since its premiere. "Cougar Town," meanwhile, continues to lose a big chunk of its "Modern Family" lead-in, but still notched a respectable 2.8/7.

--CBS did well on Wednesday, with "Criminal Minds" (3.8/10) scoring its best performance since premiere week. Earlier in the evening, "The New Adventures of Old Christine" had its best total viewer delivery since December 2008.

--Another tough night for NBC. "Law & Order: SVU" (2.3/6) had its lowest-rated episode of the season, while "The Jay Leno Show" (1.3/4) had its worst Wednesday performance ever.
