Ratings: 'Mother' Finale Gets Boost; 'Dancing With the Stars' Waltzes Into Top Slot

The season finale of "How I Met Your Mother" received a significant ratings spike, while "Dancing With the Stars" maintained its spot at the top of the ratings on Monday, according to preliminary numbers.

ABC's "Dancing" from 8-10 p.m. drew a 4.4 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic with 21.4 million total viewers, easily taking the night's Number 1 slot. The season finale of "Castle" at 10 drew a 3.3/8 in the demo and 13.2 million viewers.

CBS' evening began with the season finale of "How I Met Your Mother" at 8, which garnered a 3.0/9 in the demo, a 20 percent boost compared to last week, and 7.1 million total viewers. The series finale of "Mad Love" at 8:30 grabbed a 2.1/6 in the demo and 5.8 million total viewers, while a "Two and a Half Men" repeat at 9 drew a 2.0/5 in the demo and 6.9 million total viewers. The season finale of "Mike & Molly" at 9:30 grabbed a 2.5/6 in the demo -- a 13 percent boost compared to the previous week -- and 8.5 million total viewers. The season finale of "Hawaii 5-0" posted an 8 percent gain in the demo with a 2.5/6, and 9.8 million total viewers.

Fox drew the evening's second-highest ratings with "House" at 8, which enjoyed a 17 percent jump in the demo over last week with a 3.5/10 and 8.8 million total viewers. "The Chicago Code" the following hour grew 12 percent in the demo, with a 1.9/5 and 5.9 million total viewers.

Over at NBC, the season finale of "Chuck" -- which received a reprieve from the chopping block from the network earlier this month -- at 8 had a 15 percent jump in the demo compared to last week, with a 1.5/4 and 4.4 million total viewers. Recently canceled series "The Event" at 9 drew a 1.3/3 in the demo with 4 million total viewers, while "Law & Order: Los Angeles" the following hour took a 1.1/3 in the demo, down 8 percent compared to last week, and 4.3 million total viewers.
