Ratings: ‘Splash’ Sinks Further; NBC Takes Night With Rising ‘Voice’

CBS takes first in total viewers despite airing mostly repeats

NBC's "The Voice" inched up in the key demo Tuesday night, delivering a ratings win for the network, while ABC's new reality competition "Splash" dropped off 18 percent, according to preliminary numbers.

NBC drew first place in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic with a 2.3 rating/7 share, and took third place in total viewers, with 7 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m. was up five percent in the demo from last week, taking the night's best ratings with a 4.3/13, and was also the night's most-watched program with just over 13.6 million total viewers. "The New Normal" at 9 posted a 1.9/5 and had 5 million total viewers, while a second telecast of the series drew a 1.4/4 with 3.6 million total viewers. "Smash," which is moving to Saturday night, was down 10 percent with a 0.9/3 and had 3 million total viewers.

ABC came in second in ratings and total viewers with a 1.7/5 and 9.3 million. The network's primetime slate posted declines across the board. "Splash" at 8 fell 18 percent to a 1.4/4 and drew 5.7 million total viewers. "Dancing With the Stars" the following hour dipped 8 percent for a 2.2/6 and grabbed 13.6 million total viewers. "Body of Proof" at 10 inched down 6 percent for a 1.5/4 and took 8.7 million total viewers.

Univision tied Fox for third with a 1.6/5 and was fourth in total viewers with 3.8 million.

Fox was fifth in total viewers with 3.7 million total viewers. "Hell's Kitchen" at 8 dipped 5 percent to a 1.9/6 and had 4.7 million total viewers. After a "New Girl" repeat, "The Mindy Project" at 9:30 dropped 7 percent to a 1.4/4 but inched up in total viewers with 2.7 million.

CBS came in fifth in ratings but first in total viewers with a 1.4/4 and 9.5 million. The network aired repeats aside from the freshman drama "Golden Boy," which dipped 7 percent for a 1.3/4 and had 7.7 million total viewers.
