Showtime has set an August premiere date for new cancer comedy "The Big C," which stars Laura Linney and Gabourey Sidibe.

"C" will bow Monday, August 16, at 10:30 p.m. and will be paired with the new season of "Weeds," which starts its sixth season the same night.

Earlier in the summer, Showtime will premiere new lesbian reality series "The Real L Word" on June 20. It will air Sundays at 10 throughout the summer.

June 10, meanwhile, brings the launch of "The Green Room With Paul Provenza," a Bill Maher-esque roundtable show heavy with comedians. It will air Thursdays at 10:30 p.m., right behind the new season of "Penn & Teller: Bullshit!"

Showtime's announcement of summer programming didn't mention the biggest event on the network's warm weather calendar. Yup, we're talking the return of "Big Brother After Dark" on Showtime 2.

Look for that in July.
