Syfy will cancel "Stargate Universe" after its final episodes air in spring, the network announced Thursday.

The series, which has ten episodes in the second season, is the only one in the "Stargate" franchise still on the air.

The franchise -- which also includes "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis" -- has aired on Syfy since 2002.

The news follows the October announcement of the cancellation of the "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff "Caprica."
