Shatner, not surprisingly, agrees with Colbert
William Shatner stopped by "The Colbert Report" Wednesday to chat about his new one-man Broadway show — and to hear Colbert say he was "goddamn beautiful" on "Star Trek."
"I don't want to talk about the episodes … I just have to say, just man to man, how goddamn beautiful you were on that show," Colbert said, before losing to Shatner in an arm wrestling match. "You were a golden god … Did you know you were beautiful?"
"I did," Shatner replied, adding, "Why do you use the past tense?"
The "clash of icons," as Colbert called the interview, found Shatner snagging more than one laugh from Colbert, as when the host asked Shatner what audiences might learn during performances of the play, "Shatner's World: We Just Live In It."
"They'll learn about love and life and music and about horses … my career," Shatner said. "About interview shows I do that work and some that don't."
