ABC News could tweak its “This Week” Sunday public affairs program to better showcase the “prodigious talents” of new host Christiane Amanpour, ABC News Chief Ben Sherwood said at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour Monday.
“I want to fix the show,” Sherwood said. “We can do a lot more to showcase her strengths.”
Amanpour, a longtime CNN international correspondent, took over as host at "This Week" in August. The decision to go with Amanpour over ABC senior news correspondent Jake Tapper raised eyebrows, and the show’s ratings have since struggled.
