USA Network is going to chronicle Sam Axe’s Navy SEAL career before he became a flower-shirted Miami booze hound.

USA Network programming chief Jeff Wachtel announced at ComicCon Thursday that the network has ordered a TV movie prequel to its top-rated spy show “Burn Notice” from Fox TV Studios.

The new telepic will star “Burn Notice’s” Bruce Campbell – a ComicCon fixture dating back to his work on Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” franchise -- and detail his Axe’ character’s oft-referenced final assignment as a SEAL.

Fellow “Burn Notice” denizens Jeffrey Donovan and Gabriel Anwar will not be appearing in the movie. It’s unclear as to whether creator/showrunner Matt Nix will be involved.

Wachtel said production will begin within a couple of months, following work on the recently premiered fourth season of “Burn Notice.”
