"Modern Family," "30 Rock," "The Simpsons" and "Breaking Bad" led with three nominations each in the Writers Guild of America nominees for TV.

ABC and HBO each had eight nominations, the most of the networks, and HBO's ambitious "Boardwalk Empire" was one of only two new shows to break into the top categories. It was nominated for drama series and new series. Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" was the sole new entry in comedy series.

NBC had seven nods, and AMC, a network with only four series, had six. All except the canceled "Rubicon" were nominated, and "Breaking Bad" was the most nominated of any drama.

Though a ratings powerhouse, CBS got little respect from the writers, scoring only two -- the least of the Big 4 networks -- for an episode of "The Good Wife" and for "As the World Turns" in the daytime serial category.

"Nurse Jackie" took the place of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," in the comedy series category, but "Curb" made things a little easier for the newcomer by not having a new season in the eligibility period.

Though "Boardwalk" bumped "Lost" from the drama category, ABC's much-missed mystery still got a respectful sendoff: Its final episode, "The End," was nominated in the episodic drama category.

Here's the list:
