"Wheel of Fortune" has lost its voice.
Charlie O'Donnell, the announcer for the popular game show, has died. He was 78.
Host Pat Sajak broke the news on Twitter.
"Heavy hearts at 'Wheel.' Our wonderful announcer, Charlie O'Donnell, has passed away. We're all in a haze right now. More later," Sajak tweeted.
O'Donnell brought his distinctive voice to the show for 26 years.
He began his career as the announcer on "American Bandstand."
In addition, O'Donnell served as an announcer for a long list of entertainment events, including the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, American Music Awards and Emmy Awards.
Not to mention, announced the Beatles concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and Dodger Stadium in 1965 and 1966.
He was also a deejay on New York’s WOR-FM.
O’Donnell is survived by four children, two grandchildren, and his wife Ellen.
