Jon Favreau may have ceded directing duties on "Iron Man 3" to Shane Black, but the man who helped launch Tony Stark onto movie screens will still be involved in the upcoming sequel.

The director of the first two Iron Man movies will return as Stark's chauffeur and personal assistant Happy Hogan, Favreau's publicist confirmed to TheWrap. 

In addition to ferrying Robert Downey Jr. around, Favreau will also executive produce the film.

"Braveheart" writer Randall Wallace will direct “The Conscientious Objector” for Walden Media, Walden confirmed to TheWrap.

The film tells the story of Desmond Doss, a medic during World War II and the first conscientious objector to win the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Drafted in 1942, the Seventh-day Adventist became a medic because he refused to carry a weapon into combat.

Sony Pictures Worldwide Gets U.S. Rights to 'Revenge for Jolly!'

Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired "Revenge for Jolly!," an indie comedy featuring cameos by Kristen Wiig, Elijah Wood and Ryan Phillippe, from Atlas Entertainment. 

The studio will distribute the film in the U.S. and Canada.

"Revenge for Jolly!" premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. The off-beat film tells the story of a man who wants to avenge the death of his beloved dog. It marks the feature film debut for director Chadd Harbold and was written by Brian Petsos, who also stars. 

The deal was negotiated by Sony with UTA Independent Film Group.

Anthony Hopkins will join the cast of Summit Entertainment’s “Red 2” -- if a Norse god permits.

Hopkins and Summit are talking about the “Amistad” actor playing a villain opposite Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich in this action comedy.

Other newcomers to the cast include Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung Hun-Li.

However, Hopkins is committed to another sequel, “Thor 2,” in which he will reprise his role as Thor’s father, Odin.

If the timing can be worked out, the deal should get done.

Fox Moves 'Life of Pi' to Thanksgiving Weekend

Fox has moved up the release date of "Life of Pi," Ang Lee's adaptation of the Yann Martel novel, shifting it from Dec. 21 to Nov. 21.

The movie, which will be released wide in 3D, wowed movie exhibitors at last  month's CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas with its stunning, visually poetic shots of an Indian boy stranded on the open sea with a Bengal tiger.

No reason was given for the move, though it does shift the film out of the very busy run-up to Christmas and into Thanksgiving weekend.

Sony Acquires 'Predestination," Spierig Bros. Tale Starring Ethan Hawke

Sony has acquired domestic rights and "a large international footprint" to the Spierig Bros.’ “Predestination,” which stars Ethan Hawke.

The film, written and directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, follows a covert government time traveling agency used to prevent future violent crimes. Hawke will play an agent who seeks out his younger self to track down the one criminal that has eluded him.

It is based on Robert A Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies.”

Entertainment has acquired North American rights to “Freaky Deaky,” Charlie Matthau’s adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel of the same name.

Matthau, son of famed actor Walter, both wrote and directed the film, which stars Crispin Glover, Billy Burke, Christian Slater and Michael Jai White.

Burke plays Chris Mankowski, a cop in Detroit’s sex crimes unit who falls for a victim on his first day. He is also suspended for investigating the rich and powerful Woody Ricks, played by Glover.

The film is intended as an homage to 1974.

Adam Brooks has signed on for a pair of projects, “Happy Mother’s Day” for Walden Media and "Runaway Wedding" for Working Title Films.

Brooks, who wrote “Wimbledon” and “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” will write a new draft of the script for "Happy Mother's Day," which revolves around four moms who on their special day. Walden exec Eric Tovell would not go into further detail about the plot.
