Director Adam Shankman ("Hairspray") has signed on to be a third judge on the new season of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance."
The move continues Fox's new-found love for well-known reality judges. Ellen DeGeneres is joining the network's "American Idol" next winter.
Shankman is no stranger to "Dance": He's been a guest judge and choreographer since 2007. He'll join longtime judges Nigel Lythge and Mary "Hot Tamale Train" Murphy.
The first appearance for Shankman will come Oct. 27, the first top 20 performance show for the current season of "Dance."
Shankman's credits include "The Wedding Planner," "17 Again," "Step Up," "Bringing Down the House" and "Prop 8: The Musical."
