"Plain Jane," a reality series on which ordinary-looking girls are turned into self-confident fashion plates, is coming to The CW this summer.

The network signed a deal Tuesday night to pick up the series from Sony Pictures Television. Louise Roe will host.

The network will officially announce the pickup Thursday at its upfront presentation.

Each self-contained episode will follow one plain-looking girl who will get a complete makeover -- including self-confidence training under Roe's tutelage -- as she prepares to go on a date with a guy she has a crush on and who is unaware of her makeover plan.

The makeover will include not only a style transformation and new wardrobe, but also confidence-building exercises.

At the end of each episode, “Plain Jane” will reveal her new look to her crush.

Says The CW, "It’s a romantic comedy (or not!) in every episode."

The show is executive produced by Allison Grodner, Rich Meehan and Peter Tartaglia.
