HBO released this 22-second trailer for their upcoming medieval fantasy drama "Game of Thrones" on Sunday. The teaser didn't show much beyond some horse hooves, sword sounds and some shots of the show's star, Sean Bean. Fantasy fans will recognize Bean from his role as Boromir in the blockbuster "Lord of the Rings" franchise.
"Game of Thrones" is based on George R.R. Martin's popular "Song of Ice and Fire" novel series, which tells the story of intrigue and battles for power in seven different kingdoms. HBO greenlit the show's pilot in March and production will begin on July, 26. The show will premiere some in 2011.
"Winter is coming," promised the trailer.
With its popular novel pedigree and the "Lord of the Rings" street cred of its star, "Game of Thrones" has all the makings of a blue-chip fantasy property. HBO also has shown its ability to successfully tap into the sci-fi/fantasy market with the vampire love story "True Blood."
