NBC Universal is getting healthy.
The company has announced its first "Healthy Week" to begin on June 20 -- a mass, company-wide, cross-platform event featuring programming on topics of nutritional literacy and fitness.
The week is part of "Healthy at NBCU," an ongoing initiative to connect consumers, marketers and the company's own employees to health and wellness content and lifestyle.
In addition to programming and program themes both on NBCU's broadcast and cable networks and online, NBCU on-air talent will participate with health-themed content and tips.
Among those offering advice: Jillian Michaels (NBC's "Losing it with Jillian"), Mark Feuerstein (USA's "Royal Pains"), Mel B (Oxygen's "Dance Your A** Off"), Padma Lakshmi (Bravo's "Top Chef"), Bethenny Frankel (Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New York City"), Caroline Manzo (Bravo's "The Real Housewives of New Jersey"), Bob Harper (NBC's "The Biggest Loser"), Gabrielle Anwar (USA's "Burn Notice") and Kathy Griffin (Bravo's "My Life on the D-List").
Also included will be the launch of a new web portal, HealthyatNBCU.com, with links to various brands' digital health content, along with health quizzes and a programming guide for "Healthy Week."
"NBC Universal has the unique opportunity to join in a national dialogue around critical issues such as health through our vast media and content portfolio," Lauren Zalaznick, president of NBCU Universal Women & Lifestyle Entertainment networks, who oversees "Healthy at NBCU," said in a statement.
