(Update: Matthews has clarified his comments on Twitter, and his tweets are added.)
Never say Chris Matthews doesn't look for a silver lining.
During MSNBC's election coverage Tuesday, the "Hardball" host said he was grateful for Hurricane Sandy because it helped President Obama get re-elected.
It also killed more than 100 people, devastated New York and New Jersey, and left homes without power for days. But that was the bad part, as Matthews explained.

Matthews was saying how proud he was of Americans re-electing Obama when he mentioned Sandy.
"I'm so glad we had that storm last week 'cause I think the storm was one of those things," Matthews said.
"Ooh," interjected Rachel Maddow.
"No, politically, I should say," Matthews clarified. "Not in terms of hurting people. The storm brought in possibilities for good politics."

Matthews clarified his point on Twitter, saying, "Obviously I wasn't talking about the horror of the storm. I grew up on the Jersey shore."
He also tweeted, "I was thrilled at the cooperation between the President and state officials that made the country proud. Great bipartisanship."
