Two new Wednesday night shows in danger of cancellation -- ABC's legal drama "The Whole Truth" and NBC's married spy thriller "Undercovers" -- did little to help their chances survival.

-- CBS and Fox were tied on top of the primetime ratings charts Wednesday night. Technically, it's a tie, but CBS gets a slight edge because they run with an 8-11 p.m. schedule and Fox has a two-hour primetime lineup.

Both networks averaged a 3.1 rating/9 share in the key adults 18-49 demographic. Fox aired a two-hour episode of Gordon Ramsay's kitchen competition "Hell's Kitchen" that was the show's most-watched telecast so far this season. CBS' lineup consisted of "...

Six days after the satellite radio interview that got him fired from CNN, Sanchez called his comments "inartful," adding: "I sincerely extend this apology to anyone else whom I may have offended."

BermanBraun and MSNBC announced Wednesday morning that they are teaming up for a new site called BLTWY that will focus on the "celebrity side of politics." In other words, coverage of sex scandals, Washington fashion and plenty of Palins.

BLTWY's content comes from its own editorial team and the MSNBC Digital Network. The image-centric site was designed by BermanBraun.

MSNBC and BermanBraun previously partnered together to launch the Hollywood gossip site Wonderwall in 2009. BLTWY's design is quite similar to that site as well as BermanBraun's previous venture...

October, 05, 2010 6:45 pm | Comments On #Ad Campaigns, ads, cable, cable news, Lean Forward, marketing, MSNBC, spike lee, Television

MSNBC is set to launch a new comprehensive brand campaign that alludes to the channel's left-leaning identity.

The network's new "comprehensive branding initiative" is built around the slogan "Lean Forward." It will include print and online ads as well as a series of TV commercials directed by Oscar-winner Spike Lee.

Technically, MSNBC's ads don't overtly identify the channel's liberal slant, but the TV commercials include several subtle signals that the network is firmly in Blue State territory. Lee's "Lean Forward" spots include clips of JFK and gay weddings. The ads are also filled with imagery and quotes...

Presuming that leaked reports of Justin Bieber hosting a new "Punk'd" are not themselves an elaborate Hollywood prank -- color us skeptical here -- producers of the MTV franchise have already run into a problem.

Everybody now knows the Biebs is doing it, which will make it all the harder to pull off.

Former "Punk'd" host Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg will executive produce through their company Katalyst Media, with the pint-sized teen pop phenom as host, according to Vulture and...

Well, Fox did a whole lot better without "Lone Star"

Monday night's ratings news was also good for ABC, which won its third straight Monday with "Dancing With the Stars." NBC's new shows "The Event" and "Chase" both continue to drop.

-- "Dancing With the Stars" posted a 4.3/11 in the key adults 18-49 demo, down 10 percent from last week, but still good enough for the victory. Following "DWTS," "Castle" closed out the night strong for ABC with a 3.0/8 from 10-11 p.m., up 7 percent from last week.

-- Fox canceled "Lone Star" after it averaged an abysmal 1.2/3 in its first two weeks on air. Its replacement, "Lie to Me,"...
