After months of rumorsleaks and obsessive media speculation, the new "American Idol" judges were revealed Wednesday: Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will fill out the panel on the upcoming 10th season of Fox's megahit.

The panel's makeup is pretty much as expected, in large part because Nigel Lythgoe's wish didn't come true -- the returning executive producer had openly courted Elton John, but the rock legend obviously couldn't square the gig with his schedule, or just wasn't interested.

Good News for Dick Wolf: a New Pilot, D'Onofrio Back on 'Criminal Intent'

There were a pair of announcements Tuesday in the world of Dick Wolf and his "Law & Order" franchise -- Universal Cable Productions greenlit a pilot from Wolf Films and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent"  was renewed for a 10th and final season that will feature the return of series star Vincent D'Onofrio. 

No details were released about the nature of the pilot or whether it will be another "Law & Order" spinoff.

Season 10 of "CI" will include eight new episodes, beginning next year on the USA Network.

HBO Renews 'Boardwalk Empire' Less Than 48 Hours After Premiere

Steve Buscemi will continue to rule over his "Boardwalk Empire" on HBO for another season. The network renewed the prohibition-era gangster epic Tuesday morning, just 36 hours after it first aired Sunday night.

Michael Lombardo, HBO's president of programming, announced the renewal.

“All the ingredients aligned for this one ... The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing,” Lombardo said.

Nucky Thompson made a grand entrance on HBO Sunday night. The premiere of "Boardwalk Empire," HBO's big budget drama about the fictionalized Jazz Age gangster was watched by 4.8 million viewers Sunday night at 9 p.m.
