Twentieth Century Fox’s distribution chief Bruce Snyder will retire on July 6, co-CEOs Tom Rothman and Jim Gianpulos announced on Tuesday.
Snyder (pictured, at left) has been at the studio for 36 years and has run distribution since 1989. Chris Aronson, most recently EVP, General Sales Manager for domestic distribution, will replace him.
“For decades, Bruce has represented everything that is good and strong and ethical about our studio and industry,” Rothman and Gianopulos said in a statement. “He has not only guided hundreds of our pictures into the theatrical marketplace, he has spent countless hours advising colleagues and even competitors, all of whom have benefited from his wisdom, experience and kindnesses.”
Snyder started his career at Paramount in 1968, leaving the studio in 1976 for Fox. He rose through the ranks in their eastern sales division before ascending to the top distribution job in 1989.
“For all the wonderful pictures I’ve worked on, and for all the gifted filmmakers I’ve met, what I’ll take away most are the memories about so many dedicated and talented coworkers,” Snyder said in a statement. “I owe so much to them. It has been a privilege to work at Fox. I wish the company, and especially Chris Aronson and the rest of my friends and family in Distribution, continued success.”
