‘Twilight’ Flexes Tween Muscle With MTV Movie Award Noms

“Harry Potter” and “Inception” close behind, while Justin Bieber receives “Best Jaw-Dropping Moment” nod

Robert Pattinson may never get an Oscar for playing Edward Cullen, but on Tuesday his work in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" earned him three MTV Movie Award nominations.

The Byronic brooder is up for Golden Popcorns in the  Best Male Performance, Best Kiss and Best Fight Scene categories.

Other tween icons who will vie for the not-so-covetted awards include Justin Bieber (Best Jaw-Dropping Moment, "Never Say Never"), Zac Efron (Best Male Performance, "Charlie St. Cloud") and Pattinson's "Twilight" co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner (categories too many to name).

In a surprise to no one, Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman scored a Best Kiss nomination for their lip-locking work in "Black Swan."

All told "Twilight" led the pack with eight nominations, followed closely behind by "Inception" with seven nods and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" with six.

True to its icon, the MTV awards tend to favor popcorn fare at the expense of prestige pictures, with nary a "King's Speech" making the cut. Among the more colorful categories are "Best Scared-as-Sh*t Performance" and "Biggest Bad-Ass Star."

As previously announced, Jason Sudeikis will host the 20th annual “2011 MTV Movie Awards” on Sunday, June 5th at 9pm ET/8pm CT from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California.
