Disney Offers On-Screen Role in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’

Disney is offering an experience of a lifetime to fans who donate money to a new charity

The cast of the new “Star Wars” film isn’t quite complete — and may include you and a friend.

Disney and JJ Abrams are offering two (small) roles in the film to people who make a donation to a new charity. The Star Wars: Force for Change foundation will work to “find creative solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems.” In its first mission it will team up with UNICEF Innovation Labs.

Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are leading a crew of newcomers to the franchise.  Abrams appeared in a video from the set in Abu Dhabi to explain how a $10 contribution could get a pair of fans on location, too.

For a $10 donation directly to its Omaze.com platform, Disney and Abrams are offering a chance to win some serious perks:

  • Airfare and accommodations to London for one winner and a guest
  • Behind-the-scenes access on the closed set of Star Wars: Episode VII as VIP guests of J.J. Abrams
  • The opportunity to meet members of the cast
  • The winner and his or her guest will then be transformed by makeup and costume teams into a Star Wars character and filmed for a scene in “Star Wars: Episode VII”

One disclaimer, found on the site: “In any movie, not every scene filmed is 100 percent guaranteed to make the final cut. But the Star Wars team is taking every measure possible to ensure that your scene makes it into the movie!”

Perhaps using the Jedi Mind Trick will help clinch the winner’s appearance.
