U.S. Men’s Soccer Coach, Fox Sports’ Eric Shanks to Speak at SXSW

Bill Simmons and Nate Silver have already signed on to appear.

U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and Fox Sports’ Eric Shanks will appear at South by Southwest for the new sports-focused track of the annual festival, it announced on Monday.

Kilnsmann, the former manager of the German national team, has been guiding the U.S. team since 2011 and will man the sidelines for the World Cup next year. He will speak with Grantland’s Roger Bennett about America’s World Cup dreams.

Shanks, the co-president of the Fox Sports Group, will be talking about 24-hour sports coverage in the era of atomized news coverage.

One of the world’s premiere music, technology and film festivals, South by Southwest announced a few months ago it would branch out into sports this year.

A longtime locus for start-ups and emerging technology companies, it wants to discuss the media world’s most lucrative business – sports.

Other speakers include Grantland’s Bill Simmons, Natve Silver, Hollywood magnate Peter Guber, WWE’s Stephanie McMahon and The Onion’s Chad Nackers.
