Univision Names Tonia O’Connor Chief Commercial Officer and President of Content Distribution

Network veteran will report to president and CEO Randy Falco in newly created position

Univision has promoted Tonia O’Connor to chief commercial officer and president of content distribution, the company announced Wednesday.

In the newly created position, O’Connor will continue to lead content distribution and oversee Univision NOW, the company’s subscription video service. She will also lead the new Enterprise Development division, which will help incubate and launch new products and businesses.

“As chief commercial officer, Tonia will bring her focus, energy, extensive relationships and deep understanding of the consumer to identify new growth opportunities as we consolidate our efforts to provide Hispanic Americans with products and services that inform, empower and entertain,” Univision President and CEO Randy Falco said in a statement. “Tonia has spearheaded the phenomenal growth of our distribution efforts and I am confident she will be equally successful in growing Enterprise Development.”

“I’m excited to take on this challenge and build new ways for UCI to further distinguish itself as one of the most competitive and dynamic media companies,” said O’Connor. “Everyday our customers are asking us how they can partner with the influential and rapidly-growing Hispanic community. No company is better positioned than UCI to make these partnerships a success.”

O’Connor joined Univision in 2008 as EVP, distribution sales and marketing, where she led the launch of Univision NOW, the network’s subscription video service. She previously spent 13 years at Gemstar TV Guide.
