Verve Names Lionsgate Executive Melissa Darman as Agent

She brings experience at a TV network and studio to the talent and literary agency

Verve has hired TV executive Melissa Darman as an agent, the company announced Tuesday.

Darman comes to the agency after serving as the manager of TV at Lionsgate, where she focused on comedy development and production, overseeing “Anger Management,” “St. George” and “Partners.”

Prior to that post, Darman was the coordinator at ABC Network in comedy development and assisted in developing over 25 comedy pilots during the 2011-’13 seasons, including “Neighbors,” “Mixology” and “The Goldbergs.”

“We are excited to have someone with Melissa’s experience at both a television network and studio bring her talents and perspective to our business,” the Verve partners said in a joint statement.

Darman began her career in the ICM mailroom before becoming an assistant and then coordinator in the TV Lit Department.
