Veteran Marketing Executive Elliot Fischoff Dies

Rogers & Cowan executive oversaw television and film marketing


Veteran entertainment marketing Elliot Fischoff died Thursday from complications from thyroid cancer. He was 56.

Fischoff died on the night before his 57th birthday.

Fischoff’s public relations counsel was credited with helping propel Alex Gibney’s 2007 documentary “Taxi to the Dark Side” to an Oscar win. That film documented America’s use of torture as part of the War on Terror.

At the time of his death, Fischoff was executive vice president of the television and film marketing practice at Rogers & Cowan, Los Angeles. His areas of expertise included corporate communications, marketing and publicity, promotions, and special events.

Fischoff spent more than 25 years in the entertainment industry as a senior executive working in both television and film. Prior to joining Rogers & Cowan in 2004, he was senior vice president, worldwide at the Jim Henson Company where he oversaw public relations for all divisions.


Fischoff’ also served as senior managing director of the entertainment practice at Hill and Knowlton and held senior executive positions at Weintraub Entertainment Group, Lorimar, MGM/UA and Twentieth Century Fox.

Fischoff was a supporter of the Motion Picture Home. He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Publicists Guild of America.

Fischoff is survived by his daughter Danielle, son Alexander, brothers Richard and Jay, sister- in-law Patty, sister Lynn, nephew David and his former wife Debra Cherney.
