Vin Diesel Shares His Emotional Moment With Paul Walker’s Family

“I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,” the actor wrote on Facebook

Vin Diesel‘s outpouring of grief for his former costar Paul Walker continued on Facebook late Friday, when the actor posted a peek into the first moments after he heard about Walker’s death on Nov. 30.

“I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,” Diesel wrote in the post, accompanied by a candid photo of the two actors together (above).

“[Walker’s] mother hugged me and said I am so sorry,” he wrote. “I said sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son?… She said yes, but you lost your other half.”

This was Diesel’s second emotional post about his late friend. The actor shared his first thoughts on Dec. 2, two days after the crash in Valencia, California that took Walker’s life.

“I wish you could see the world right now… and the profound impact, your full life has had on it, on Us… on me,” Diesel wrote at the time.

Walker was the passenger of a Porsche driven by friend and business partner, Roger Rodas — who also died in the fiery crash. Preliminary autopsy information released on Wednesday revealed that both men died of multiple traumatic and thermal injuries resulting from a high-speed collision with a fixed object. Circumstances of the crash are still being investigated.
